I’M JENN,

I do this work because I’ve watched too many intelligent, creative, deeply capable women live smaller versions of themselves than they were meant to. I'm a certified health and wellness coach, intuitive creativity expert, and founder of Blue-Eyed Birds Creative. I work at the intersection of psychology, spirituality, and human systems thinking, which is a formal way of saying - I help women reconnect with who they actually are underneath all the conditioning. My job is to hold a mirror and reflect back what's true, so you can finally stop hiding and start living.

MY STORY

I'm a keen observer of life, a deep thinker, a creative person who spent years arguing herself out of that word, and a woman who lives in a body that is no longer able to keep pace with a culture built on hustling.

As a second generation eldest daughter who was highly gifted, I learned early that it was my role to be the caretaker in my deeply dysfunctional family system. This soon became the role I played throughout most of my life, where I believed it was my job to create and maintain stability at all times through sensing, analyzing, and problem solving others’ needs. It has taken half a lifetime for me to use these gifts to their highest good. But this closeness with grief and darkness has helped me cultivate the empathy it takes to walk with others who are also finding their way out of the darkness. I consider it a gift, and my divine purpose to sit with others as they learn how to move toward more joy and love, amid all of their pain.

I am also a deeply creative person, which has taken me a long time to admit to myself. I was afraid for a long time to be truly seen taking up space, as if who I was when I wasn’t playing the role of caretaker wasn’t enough. Afraid, as if wanting to make something for its own sake was somehow selfish. I now know how essential creation is to living a healthy life.

While I maintain a rather healthy life, I also live with chronic illness (hEDS trifecta and a handful of others). It means I've had to learn what my body will and won't tolerate, that rest isn't something I earn, and that pretending otherwise doesn't work — my body simply stops cooperating when I lie to it. Like other difficulties I’ve faced, disability has led to profound compassion and empathy for the struggles so many of us contend with day to day.

I currently live with my 3 cats and 100+ house plants in Rochester, NY - the ancestral, and unceded territory of the Onöndowá'ga people.

How I Got Here

I hold an MS in Creativity, Innovation and Change Leadership and a BA in Personality Psychology and English Literature, with concentrations in transpersonal, positive, organizational, motivational, and behavioral psychology. My graduate research, published through the SUNY Buffalo State Digital Commons, applied Human Centered Design to develop mentoring solutions for youth aging out of the foster care system.

I am a certified health and wellness coach through the Community As Medicine Health Coach Training Program at Open Source Wellness, an NBHWC-approved, trauma-informed program, where I also trained in Motivational Interviewing and Appreciative Inquiry. I hold a Cognitive Behavioral Coaching Certification, am a Certified FourSight Facilitator trained under program creator Dr. Gerard Puccio, and am a Master Certified Trainer for the Innovation Strengths Preference Indicator.

Before founding Blue-Eyed Birds Creative, I spent 15 years in organizational consulting, doing the kind of work most coaches only read about: redesigning personality assessments with statistically significant reliability scores, facilitating culture change strategy for senior executives, designing cognitively diverse teams for healthcare leadership programs using psychometric data, and conducting year-long ethnographic research with foster care agencies. I also supported specialized military experts in classifying a strategic genius archetype, work that sits at the rare intersection of psychology, research, and applied human understanding that runs through everything I do.

That background shapes my coaching in ways that are hard to manufacture. I don’t just understand human behavior from formal study, I’ve spent 15+ years working with it in depth, across disciplines, and with real stakes.

Selected Work & Experience

A few things I’m particularly proud of:

  • Multi-year culture change strategy for Hallmark Cards senior executives during a major organizational restructuring

  • Designed cognitively diverse, cross-functional project teams for multiple cohorts of the Healthcare Business Academy Fellowship Program using innovation and motivation assessments

  • Co-created an assessment on core motivations and archetypes with Hallmark Cards’ innovation incubator

  • Supported specialized military experts in identifying and classifying a strategic genius archetype

  • Designed content and curriculum for 100+ presentations in leadership, creativity, innovation, and emotional intelligence

  • Conducted year-long ethnographic research with foster care agencies and youth programs

How This Shapes My Coaching

That 15+ years of work—studying human systems, redesigning assessments, facilitating culture change, understanding how teams actually think—shaped how I see human transformation. You're not failing because you're unmotivated or broken. You're stuck because your nervous system learned to protect you in ways that made perfect sense, but now those protections run on autopilot, and they're holding you back from meeting your full potential. Your body has known this. Real change happens when we honor why those protections existed, understand what they've cost you, and then make space for something new. By slowly feeling safe enough to let your guard down. By remembering who you are underneath how you’ve had to adapt. That systems thinking is what makes coaching work so well. We work with your whole self: the psychological patterns, the body's wisdom, the shadow parts, the spiritual knowing that's been waiting for you. Not as separate things, but as one integrated system that's trying to tell you something true about who you are.

Your creativity is not a luxury. It's the thing that brings you back to yourself, and to a deeper connection within nature. You don’t need to earn who you are. You just need to show up for yourself. Real transformation isn't a breakthrough moment that collapses when the novelty wears off. It's a practice. A relationship with yourself so grounded that it holds even when everything else gets hard. I know what it costs to not have that. And I know what becomes possible when you finally choose it.

Hobbies & Special Interests

  • A good cup of coffee and a great book. Literary fiction is my favorite genre, but I’ll always vibe with a romance. The queerer, the better

  • Nature, botany, fungi, entomology…you get it. (I could live in a world covered in moss)

  • Women. We are the true creators, and I’m very passionate about making women feel heard and seen under the weight of patriarchy
